Adding a Client
Creating a New Client
Before you can do anything in The Setup OS, you need a client. Why? Because clients are the key that unlocks projects - and projects are what allow you to map workflows, which is kind of the basis of this whole thing. No client = no project = no automation magic.
When you create a client, a project will automatically be created for you. You don’t need to do anything with that just yet (we’ll cover projects in the next module), but it’s helpful to understand the sequence.
There are three ways to add a client. Choose your favorite - or use all three depending on the situation.
Use the “Add New Client” Form
Under the Quick Buttons section in the sidebar, click Add New Client and fill out the form.
Once you hit Submit, be sure to click “View my response” to jump straight to the newly created client page.
If you skip that, don’t panic — it may take a few moments for your new client to appear. Check for them under All Leads if needed.
When you land on their profile, it’ll be blank. Click “Dubsado Playbook Client Template” to load up all the Setup OS goodness.
Heads up: Depending on Notion’s mood (aka server speed), applying the template might be lightning fast... or a mini coffee break. That’s just Notion being Notion.
Pros:
- Ensures the profile basics are all filled out (thanks to the form)
Cons:
- You’ll need to manually apply the client template every time
Method 2 - Create Directly in the Client Hub
From the Client Hub, click New to create a contact directly.
Notion will open the profile in side peek and automatically apply the playbook template (no extra clicks from you).
Once it opens in side peek, click into the Basic Info area and fill in all required fields. The Profile Checklist at the top will help you make sure nothing gets missed.
Pros:
- The playbook template applies automatically
Cons:
- You’ll need to manually enter the client details
Automagical Method 3: Use Zapier
You can set up a Zap to send new leads straight into your Notion database. This is ✨chef’s kiss✨ for scaling - but hold off until you’re fully comfortable doing it manually.
We’ll walk you through the Zap setup in the Zaps Module once you’ve got the basics under your belt.
